Рождественская тематика на занятиях по английскому языку: продолжаем готовиться к ЕГЭ

Приближается католическое рождество, которое празднуют в стране изучаемого языка – Великобритании. Занятия по английскому языку с применением игр, песен и других заданий на рождественскую тематику становятся праздничными и мотивирующими для учащихся.

Как же сохранить формат ЕГЭ, если тематика у занятия рождественская?

План занятия

Цель занятия – совершенствовать умение понимать в прослушанном тексте запрашиваемую информацию.

Задачи:

  • Фонетическая – отработать особенности произношения согласных и гласных звуков для первого задания из устной части ЕГЭ;
  • Грамматическая – отработать использование времен и грамматических конструкций для заданий из устной части ЕГЭ;
  • Лексическая – познакомиться с новыми лексическими единицами
  • Лингвострановедческие –познакомиться с ценностями и приоритетами королевы Елизаветы.

Материалы: видеофрагмент речи королевы ЕлизаветыII на канале Youtube, компьютер или магнитофон, пазлы личного письма о традициях в Британии.

Этапы

  • Введение темы (15 минут)

Цели: Мотивировать учащихся к активной речевой деятельности; знакомство с некоторыми членами королевской семьи.

Деятельность учителя:

Good morning, students!

Look at this cut photo. What is the theme of our lesson? Guess what there is in the photo.

Your ideas are brilliant. Now let’s divide into two teams and then we’ll see the original size of the picture.

Now look at this photo in the original size and try to remember all details of all these people. During 2 minutes you should name all actions one by one.

Before we start let’s repeat what the members’ names of royal family are. Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince Charles’s wife Camilla,  Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton, their son George.  Do not forget about the background and the foreground of the photo.

You will be given a puzzle of the personal letter after finishing tasks.

Деятельность учеников: 

Students try to guess what objects are in the photo.

Then they memorize all details in the photo and each teamstarts to describe the photo one by one during 2 minutes.

The example of the students’ answers:

There are some members of the royal family. Kate Middleton is holding her son. Her face is happy and content. One can see pretty dogscorgi. They are loved by the whole family.

The teams are given a puzzle of the personal letter.

  • Основная часть (20 минут)

Цели: совершенствовать фонетические навыки и умение понимать запрашиваемую информацию в тексте.

Pre-listening

Our royal family has enjoyed themselves a lot and now the Queen Elizabeth II should deliver a speech for her dearest and nearest, the British and the whole world.

Imagine that you are

the Queen of the UK.Your fist task is to read these words aloud without mistakes and then to make 7 sentences using these words from the Queen’s speech for reading aloud. After that you give your speech to the opposite team. Then we will compare your versions of speech with its original one.

You are given 1,5 minutes to look through your opponent’s text and then one by one read aloud mentioning all pauses, intonation and voiced or voiceless consonants.

While-listening

You have been the Queen of the UK and now let’s check what the original version is. While you listen to the Queen’s Christmas speech, each person of your teams should do a task with “True”, “False”, “Not stated” statements.

Вы услышите речь королевы Елизаветы IIпо случаю Рождества. Определите, какие из утверждений соответствуют содержанию текста (1 – True), какие не соответствуют (2- False) и о чем в тексте не сказано (3- Notstated). Занесите номер выбранного Вами варианта ответа в таблицу. Вы услышите запись дважды.

  1. The Queen Elizabeth II told about the priest who did not change the manner of service.
  2. Therewerefew victims during the First World War in Britain.
  3. The Queen Elizabeth mentioned that she had been proud of her grandsons’ success.
  4. The quantity of countries in the Commonwealth has been increased since 1948.
  5. The Queen’s life was full of celebrations and expectations this year.
  6. The Queen’s family and friends are not the things that stay the same.
  7. The part of the Queen’s wisdom is knowledge that a human can act violently and also have a great ability to do good things.

After that you exchange your answers with the opposite team. The team, which has got more right answers, chooses any false statement and asks the opposite team about the arguments from the text.

Деятельность студентов:

The students have a list of some new words. They read them. The students read aloud words one by one in teams trying not to make mistakes.

Besides, they make their own short speech for the opposite team.

The example:

I am going to thank all services for their devoted work. Our year was rather busy. We had weddings, births and anniversaries. All events were remarkable. Of course, there were sorrows and reasons to grieve. However, we have coped with all these problems. Despite propensity for good and capacity for evil we should hope and have power of faith.

The opposite team has a list with criteria from State exam. They should give points for a good reading of the speech. The teams have 1.5 minute to prepare. They read a text of the opposite team one by one.

The teams are given two puzzles of the personal letter.

While-listening

The students do a task with “True”, “False”, “Not stated” statements. Then they exchange their answers and the winning team asks about the arguments for the false statements.

The teams are given puzzles again.

  • Рефлексия (5 минут)

Цель: подвести итоги, повторить новые лексические единицы.

Деятельность учителя:

Today we have learnt a lot about the Queen’s values. What are the main values for her? Give an argument. You will be given a puzzle for each value. What are the main values for you when you think of Christmas? Use this mind-map and write some values using new vocabulary.

 

Деятельность учащихся:

The students think of the Queen’s values:

One of the main values is family. She is so devoted to the members of her family.

Another value is to live in peace and harmony. The Queen tries to care about other countries.

Then the students write their own values.

  • Формулировка домашнего задания (5 минут)

Цель: повторение структуры личного письма.

Now you can make your puzzles. This is Kate’s letter about the traditions in Great Britain.  

Write a letter to Kate.

In your letter

  • answer her questions
  • ask her 3 questions about her plans

Write 100-140 words

Let’s repeat the structure of the personal letter.
